…(Pamela White’s) appointment as U.S. Ambassador to The Gambia and now her nomination to serve as Ambassador in Haiti are a reflection of her 30 outstanding years of public service. I commend her phenomenal hard-work in Africa, as well as her commitment to improving global health and education – and for facilitating opportunities for women and girls in this critical part of the world.
…From 1971 to 1973, Ambassador White served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Cameroon, and in 1978 she joined USAID where she served for the last 30 years – primarily in Africa. In January, she attained the rank of career minister, the highest rank within the Foreign Service.
