Haiti: Women’s organizations denounce U.S. Embassy involvement in electoral crisis

Posted on March 18, 2013-

The Director of SOFA said that “if the American Ambassador had an respect for herself, as an Ambassador, she would understand that when she puts her mouth into these matters, at these particular times, she is further complicating the situation.”

Indeed, the hastiness of the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince and its Ambassador, Pamela White, to establish a provisional electoral council not conforming to the processes prescribed by the Haitian Constitution was manifested on Monday March 11.

Ambassador White spoke on the airwaves of Scoop FM about her “deception”, when the first list of names to the provisional electoral council, Maxime Magloire, Pierre Simon George and Yolette Dumorné, had been announced. The Ambassador said she rushed to tell Washington, D.C. of the news only to be deceived by changes in the selections a day later. via – Defend Haiti
